seated view shows the great nine button jacket and a wonderful kepi. This
bearded gentleman has that 1000 yard stare in his eyes. Although he is
unknown the back mark may help identify his unit. It is marked JORDAN &
CO. "LATE BOGARDUS" 229 GREENWICH ST. ESTABLISHED 1846.
C.D.V. OF GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE This is a C.D.V. of General Robert E. Lee in his Mexican War uniform.
This is a magnus style CDV by L. PRANG & CO, BOSTON. These were put
out at the beginning of the Civil War before the Confederate CDV's were
available. It depicts a much younger Lee in a splendid uniform.
C.D.V. DANIEL H. HILL OR IS IT A. P. HILL?? This is a C.D.V. that is marked on the front D. H. Hill. We believe
it is actually A. P. Hill. Do you know??? This depicts General Hill in
a heavy winter coat with two stars on the collar. There is a small loss
of paper to the card, but it does not go into the view. It is back marked
E & H.T. ANTHONY, N.Y.

It is marked RIO, MARCH 8, 1870. It depicts Count I'EU (or L'EU) &
Isabella, Dom Pedro & Theresa, and Duke of Lance (not sure of spelling)
& Leopoldin. This probably came from one of the former Confederates
who fled to Brazil in 1865. Many had returned to the states by 1875. This
is a very scarce view, with an interesting history.

C.D.V. OF UNION LIEUTENENT GENERAL U.S. GRANT This is a C.D.V. of Civil War Union Lieutenent General U. S. Grant from
the estate of W. E. Alford, G'ville, Ohio. This is a good view of an unsmiling
General Grant. There is no back mark, only the penciled inscription.
This is a patriotic Carte de Visite of Lt. General U.S. Grant. It is
in a wonderul patriotic matte, which is complete with eagle, shield, flags
and cannons. This full bust view is nice and sharp and shows a very determined
Grant. No back mark, but it is printed on the bottom, Lt. Gen. Grant.
This is a Carte de Visite of the famous midgets Tom Thumb and his wife
at their wedding. Midgets were a great novelty during the 1860's. P.T.
Barnum promoted Tom Thumb as the "world's smallest man." There is no back
mark. These were probably done for promotional purposes by Barnum.
This is a bust view Carte de Visite of a Civil War Union Officer. It
is back marked
This is a Carte de Visite of Abraham Lincoln and his family. Robert

Budget??"!! There is no back mark, but these were popular during the war.
This is a bust view Carte de Visite of Mid-Shipman James A. Bowen of
the U.S. Navy. The brown ink signature on the back may well be his. The
back mark is WESTMINISTER GALLERY, PROVIDENCE, RI. Someone has removed
the revenue stamp from the back. This is a very clear view.
This is a Carte de Visite of Confederate General Benjamin McCoullough.
This is a rare bust view of the General. McCoullough was the first to use
Confederate Indians in battle at Pea Ridge. He had been a pre-war Texas
Ranger. McCoullough was killed at Pea Ridge. This C.D.V. is back marked
E&H.T. Anthony, N.Y.
This is a Carte de Visite of the Vice President of the Confederate States
of America, Alexander Hamilton Stephens, "Little Aleck". There is no back
mark, but printed at the bottom on the back is "A.H. STEPHENS C.S.A.".
I do not believe a Union photographer would have referred to the C.S.A.
This view really depicts a disheveled Stephens, his collar is loose, coat
is open, hair is in need of cutting, lines in faces, etc
